Network View
Network View allows you to see a visual representation of the network. You can see all the nodes that are present. This is done by using a IP range that it will search for. Once it finds the computer it will represent it on the diagram putting its IP address, and computer name. It is also capable of identifying weather the computer is a server or workstation. Once you get the representation as a diagram as shown in the screen capture you can then arrange the network by Address, By DNS, By Enterprise, By System name, and By OD.


You can also find particular computers that maybe have been left out when the search was going on. This could have been left out if the computer was no online (could have been turned off, or maybe restarting). You can then also monitor the nodes at a time interval so that you can know if a particular node went offline. To do this you start monitoring nodes and set a time interval in which you want the computer to check the nodes. All the nodes will show a green light on the monitor drawn in the diagram when online; when it detects a node that has gone offline it will start showing a red light.


This software is also capable of showing details of each node. It can show you which particular Operating system version you are running. The different services that are enables on that computer. E.g. o one of the server computers it showed that the IIS (Internet Information System) service was running and also the showed all the other various services that were present like TELNET Terminal etc.

Network Analyser
Network Analyzer is a tool that allows you to monitor the computer. It has lots of information that it can give you about the computer you are monitoring. It is also capable of monitoring a computer remotely. To connect to a computer that is on the network you have to know the computer name or IP address so that you can connect to it. Lets see what all the different section are all about. At the top we have to Up Time this lets us know for how long the computer has been running. Then the boot time just gives you the date and time that the computer was booted.


Then the computer section is used to connect to a particular computer. Then we have the Query section that allows us to change the CPU, disk and network adapter that we are querying. This is in the case of having multiple devices in one computer. E.g. having more then one CPU. The memory shows you how much memory is in use, and also the amount of the paging file that is in use. The CPU section shows the load on that processor in percentage, number or processes currently running, and the number of threads that are running. The disk section gives you the rate at which you are reading and writing to the disk and then a total combined rate of the in and out of the disk.


The network does a similar thing like disk just that now it is looking at the network card, and reporting its data rate. The last thing that is there on that screen is the Top 10 Processes that are running. i.e. the processes that are taking up most of the CPU time and they are in descending order. You can have I notify you about the happenings via the web, e-mail, visual and audio. To do this you just have to configure the Notification setting that appear under edit.


You can also set global settings which also are under the edit command. There is have a change to set more settings. You also have a triggers tab where if you set the trigger level on the CPU, Network, Disk and Memory then these triggers will help you collect information when values in these sections reach or go beyond this. Then you can have the data to be posted in to a log file so that you can monitor these things, by
