Do you ever get frazzled over something that is usually not a problem to you? Any situation can be stressful depending on the factors influencing you. Such as, you are in class and the bell rings but, you are nowhere near finished with the test you are taking. On a normal day a ring of the bell may not be stressful to you, but having a test due is a factor which causes you stress.

A life changing event such as a death in the family or a divorce can be very traumatic. My grandfather of only 69 years old passed away a month ago and even to this day I still am overwhelmed of the fact that I will never see him again. I have a friend whose parents just recently divorced and since then she hasn’t been herself. She’s quickly irritated and cries a lot. She tells me that she is very tense all the time and needs a way to deal with the situation she’s been dealt. She is right, instead of denying that you have a problem you need to face it in order to move on.

When under a lot of stress using defense mechanisms can provide relief from anxiety and help you cope with your problems but can lead you into denial and cause you to not deal with your problems. There are many healthy ways of managing stress, such as, laughing, finding something that relaxes you, or rechanneling your energy into a healthy activity. Laughing is a good way to relax, in that, it shows t you can accept that things may go wrong. Rechanneling is a good way to use negative energy and turn it into positive energy. If you have feelings of anger and you just want to hit something, then try taking a boxing class. That way you still relieve stress with out harming others.

If you feel overwhelmed for long period of time and find yourself alone in a crowded room, you could have a more serious problem then stress, you could be depressed. Depression is not something you can just "snap out of." It\'s caused by an imbalance of brain chemicals, along with other factors. Like any serious medical condition, depression needs to be treated. There are many websites and help hotlines if you feel you are depressed.

Feelings of stress can be overwhelming and often unbearable but everyone has stress but its how you choose to handle it that decides how your going to feel . There are ways of minimizing stress on your own. If you have tried all that you can on your own and still aren’t feeling any better then there are help lines, support groups and if needed medicine. Everyone gets stressed so don’t feel alone. Tell someone how you are feeling and get help.
